Warangal, once the capital of the Kakatiya Kingdom, is the fifth largest city of Andhra Pradesh. The ancient name of Warangal was known to be Oruguallu or Omtikonda on account of huge boulder like hillock situated near the swayambhu Siva Temple and is also called "EKASILANAGARAM". In course of time, it was called as "Orugallu", and finally known as Warangal. Warangal the ancient Kakatiya Kingdom has everything to satisfy the thirst of tourist all over the world. Kakatiya University (KU), Warangal was established in 1976 to fulfill the aspirations of the Telangana people for higher education. The founding of the university was in fact a historic event in the sense that heralded a new era in the realms of higher education of  Warangal  region. The erstwhile Post-Graduate Centre of Osmania University was upgraded and named Kakatiya University. The development of the University over the years has been gradual but impressive. The university was initially accredited with B+ grade by the NAAC in 2002 and reaccredited with A grade in 2008.

Kakatiya University is now offering programs in Engineering, Pharmacy, Law, Computer Science, Business Management, Education, Science, Arts, Commerce, Oriental courses in the University, constituent and affiliated colleges. In addition, the School of Distance Learning and Continuing Education (SDLCE) is offering a large number of programs through distance mode. Kakatiya University is vibrant with research activities carrying out the projects sponsored by various funding agencies. The university has held its flag high in the domain of Sports and Games at national level competitions.

Ramappa Temple

Ramappa is a one of the famous temple in warangal. Ramappa Temple The city of Warangal is 157 km from Hyderabad. It was the ancient capital city of the Kakatiya kingdom. Warangal means "history". Its massive fortress has withstood continuous attacks from the Delhi Sultans in the 13th and 14th centuries AD. In the 19th century AD, it was the hunting ground of the nobles. It is noted for its beautiful lakes, magnificent temples, mud-brick forts and wildlife sanctuaries.

Thousand Pillers Temple

Thousand pillars temple is located in Hanamkonda part of the Warangal City. It was constructed in the 1163 AD by Rudra Deva. It depicts typical Chalukyan style of architecture. The three presiding deities are Lord Shiva, Vishnu and Surya.It is one of the finest specimens of Kakatiya architecture and sculpture.
